The Solomon Islands Chamber of Commerce & Industry (SICCI) has condemned a recent knife attack on a Honiara businessman, re-emphasizing security concerns for the business community and the continued trend of attacks.
SICCI Chair Jay Bartlett denounced the alleged attack on veteran businessman John Lee owner of Lee Kwok Kuen, describing the incident as a senseless act of crime that paints a negative image to the security of the Solomon Islands business environment.
“As a body representing our local businesses and the Solomon Islands private sector, we convey our sympathy to the victim and call for swift action against these disturbing acts.
“Attacks to our local businesses does not help with confidence in our local market and can tarnish the image of our country internationally as an unsafe place to live, do business and travel.”
Mr Bartlett called for cooperation from the public to assist police with their investigation.
